The Black Sands of the Washington Coast 2006-12-21 06:35:11
Kyle and Erin, for Erin's birthday, rented a house in Ocean Shore, Washington, and invited a large group to enjoy the weekend with them.
Unfortunately, immediately upon our arrival, I came down with a severe cold -- headache, congestion, muscle fatigue, and even lost my voice. I did spend some excessive number of hours sleeping, oblivious to the party raging about me, or slumped in the recliner absorbing text from the dozen or so periodicals I’d acquired during an excursion to the local pharmacy for drugs that can only be purchases with photo ID.
The weather was clear, but cold, and for being so late in the season, remarkably dry.

Corgi appear to enjoy the beach as well.

There was, shall we say, no shortage of liquors, and as per tradition, we attempted to learn new and complex strategy games. Munchkin, in particular, has been attempted many, many times -- though we only feel inclined to attack it's modest learning curve after we've inebriated beyond the point of, shall we say, standing.
On this occasion however, having chosen not to mix a pseudoephedrine/ethyl cocktail in my brain, abstained from the C2H6O (gee! what a great way to store hydrogen!) and in a few minutes had a game underway. Do give it a try.

I'd like to send out special props to whomever decorated this place.

A Busy Saturday 2006-06-14 12:32:28
Crazy Saturday.
We took Hazel for her interview at the Downtown Dog Lounge on Bell between 3rd and
4th.
Bell street runs through the center of Seattle's Belltown neighborhood. Belltown is in
the final stages of gentrification, fancy condos and trendy restaurants replacing broken
storefronts and empty warehouses.
We found ourselves in the neighborhood about an hour ahead of Hazel's appointment, so
we popped over to Regrade Park on
3rd & Bell. Regrade park used to play host to vagrants and drunks, but was recently fenced
in and landscaped into an urban off-leash dog park.
Funny, the bums don't hang out there anymore. Hmmm...
After the interview (Hazel, "nailed it", btw), and a couple of side trips to pick up
Nate and John, IKEA and Harbor Freight, we headed over to Kyle and Erin's
new place for a housewarming party.

Another party-goer brought his lab-collie mix; Corgi + Collie = Lots of Play.

By the end of the day, we were all exhausted.

Further Corgi Adventures 2006-06-06 00:03:08
We took Hazel to the off-leash area at Magnuson Point Park this weekend. It took some time for the little pup to gain enough confidence to play with bigger dogs, but once she did, we had a hard time keeping up with her.
She definitely knows her name, a call to her gets her attention, but she doesn't always come. We'll definitely be working on that.
I must say, were you single, this dog would be a total chick magnet. We could hardly move ten feet before getting ooh'd or aah'd.
We met a few other Corgi at the park. Looks like Hazel is going to be cute forever.

Easily Distracted? 2006-05-19 18:47:50
OK, the last couple posts were kind of dry. But I know what you really want...
She is sad because the cats don't like her.

She Finally Has a Name 2006-05-11 11:16:14
This weekend, we decided we would call her Hazel.
Her ears now appear fully deployed.
